03 / Custom Shopify Store

A Shopify store that
loads in under a second.

For D2C brands on Shopify doing EUR 500k+ that outgrew themes and Liquid.

Shopify keeps your checkout, inventory, and orders. We replace the theme with a custom Next.js storefront on the Storefront API. Result: sub-1s pages on mobile, full design freedom, and a frontend any Next.js developer can maintain.

02 / What you get

01

Sub-1s product pages on mobile

A custom Next.js storefront on Vercel's edge network. Images served through Shopify's CDN plus next/image. Core Web Vitals in green on day one.

02

Full design freedom

No theme limits, no Liquid gymnastics. Whatever your designers put in Figma, we ship. Animations, micro-interactions, custom PDP layouts, all of it.

03

Shopify admin unchanged

Checkout, inventory, orders, taxes, shipping rules, and your app stack keep working exactly as they do today. You edit products in Shopify. The storefront reads from the Storefront API.

04

Klaviyo + GA4 wired in

Email automations, abandoned cart, GA4 e-commerce tracking, UTM attribution. Everything a growth team needs, set up in the first week.

05

Multi-currency and multi-language ready

Shopify Markets handled at the storefront layer. Add languages and currencies without a replatform.

06

You own the code

Source code in your GitHub, hosted on your Vercel account. Any Next.js developer can pick it up if you ever need to move on.

03 / How we build it

01Week 1

Scope + technical audit

We audit your current Shopify setup, app stack, analytics, and checkout. Output: a scoped build plan, migration map for redirects and SEO, and a shared Figma to sign off on.

02Weeks 2-5

Storefront build

We build the custom Next.js storefront against your Shopify Storefront API. Product pages, collections, cart, search, account. Weekly Loom demos plus a Friday call to review.

03Weeks 6-7

Integrations + QA

Klaviyo flows, GA4 e-commerce, consent mode, abandoned cart recovery, app reintegration (reviews, loyalty, upsell). Cross-device QA on the full purchase path.

04Week 8

Launch + handover

DNS switchover, 301 redirect map applied, Search Console resubmitted. Code transferred to your GitHub, Vercel transferred to your account. You own everything from this point.

05 / How we scope

One price.
Agreed in week one.

Week one is a scoping sprint: we audit your Shopify setup, align on scope, and quote a fixed fee. No hourly billing, no surprise change orders, no retainer pressure during the project. You only start when the number and milestones are agreed.

Frequently asked

If the answer you need is not here, reply to any email or book a call.

Ask us directly →
01

Why headless over a regular Shopify theme?

A good theme gets you to around 55 on mobile Lighthouse. A headless Next.js storefront gets you to 85 or higher. On mobile that is the difference between a 4-second load and a 1-second load, which on most sites lifts conversion between 8 and 20 percent. You also get complete design freedom, no app bloat, and a frontend any Next.js developer can maintain.

02

Can we keep our Shopify apps?

Most. Anything that runs in the admin (inventory, orders, shipping, taxes, Klaviyo, Recharge, reviews platforms that expose a Storefront API) works unchanged. Apps that inject Liquid into the theme have to be reimplemented on the storefront side. We audit your app stack in Week 1 and call out anything that needs a swap before we start.

03

How is this different from Shopify Hydrogen?

Hydrogen is Shopify's own React framework, tightly coupled to Oxygen hosting and Shopify's opinionated structure. We build on Next.js and host on Vercel. You get the same Storefront API access with a much larger ecosystem, a frontend any Next.js developer can work on, and zero vendor lock-in beyond Shopify itself.

04

What happens to SEO during migration?

We inventory every indexed URL, build a 301 redirect map, preserve canonical and metadata structure, and resubmit your sitemap to Search Console on launch day. Done right, traffic is stable or up within 2 weeks. We monitor every day of the first month and catch any drops before they compound.

05

Do we need to change our checkout?

No. Checkout stays on Shopify. We hand users off at the cart-to-checkout step using Shopify's checkout URL. That keeps you PCI compliant through Shopify, keeps Shop Pay and Apple Pay working, and means we never touch the part of your funnel that matters most.

06

Can we use Shogun, PageFly, or Replo with this?

No. Those page builders are theme-layer tools. On a headless build, your content lives either in Shopify metafields, in a CMS (Sanity, Payload), or directly in the codebase edited through Cursor. We pick the right approach based on who will be editing and how often.

07

How long does a Custom Shopify build take and how do you price it?

Standard catalogs under 200 SKUs ship in 6 to 8 weeks. Larger catalogs, Shopify Plus setups, and multi-market builds extend both scope and timeline. Pricing is fixed-fee and milestone-based, scoped in the first week and agreed before any work starts. No hourly billing, no surprise change orders. Every engagement includes source code ownership and the first 12 weeks of post-launch performance monitoring. We share specific numbers on a scoping call.

08

Do you offer ongoing support after launch?

Yes, through Platform Care. Monthly retainer with three tiers: Lite at EUR 1,500, Pro at EUR 2,500, Scale at EUR 5,000 per month. Covers automated dependency updates, weekly performance and SEO reports, and reserved dev time for features and fixes. Most Shopify clients land on Care Pro once launch month settles.
